Science has shown, and educators can confirm, that when we are anxious, frustrated or stressed, it is difficult to teach and nearly impossible to learn.
Unfortunately, more adults and children are suffering from anxiety-related concerns than ever before and this is affecting our school communities.
Schools are busier than ever with a high focus on competition and external rewards. This daily focus of achievement orientated awareness, coupled with the consistent use of technology, exhausts the mind and body. It is hard to learn and teach when we are exhausted.
Yoga is a system that nourishes and balances the nervous system by clearing the mind and relaxing the body. When used in education, yoga offers a broad range of strategies that can support any subject area or learning environment.
Yoga Tools are simple and fun yoga-based exercises to immediately feel more focused, energised or relaxed. Yoga Tools can be used in any setting and require just 2-8 minutes of time.
When we use Yoga Tools at school, we are learning ways to enhance self-awareness, self-care and self-management by tuning into the body, the breath and the mind. Yoga Tools not only enhance teaching and learning, Yoga Tools are skills we learn to support us through life!
Have a wonderful day!
