by Emma Edwards and Lachlan Graham, The Float House Townsville

Floatation therapy is where you float effortlessly inside a float pod that is a light and sound-free environment, and contains twelve inches of water with 550kg of Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) dissolved inside.

The water is heated to skin temperature, so once you are settled in the tank, the sensation of water on your skin will slowly fade away. It will be as though the outside world has also quietly faded away, leaving you in your own space for total relaxation.

The buoyancy created by the Epsom salt solution effectively removes the feeling of gravity on the body, bringing you close to an experience of total weightlessness. This gives you the perfect environment to allow your physical body to release the daily strain on your body. With the pod’s interior lights off, the quietness and darkness removes all sensory input, which allows the mind to drift into the deepest state of relaxation possible.

The Float House has two private float rooms available, each with it’s own shower and float pod. Everything is provided, so you just have to bring yourself and an open mind.

It became Emma and Lachlan’s dream to learn more about this incredible therapy and make it available in Townsville. They believe everyone can benefit from the profound experience of floating. Floatation Therapy supports pain and stress relief, creativity and learning, performance enhancement, muscle recovery, meditation, and allows for a deeper relaxation experience.
